Potential sites

This is an exciting time as the vision that is Sky Vault becomes reality. The recent focus has been on finding a site to locate the Sky Vault structure. This has involved consultations with parish, borough and county councils, the Arts Council, EMDA, landowners and other interested parties.

Many sites have been researched and discussed. The result of this process is a strong list of five potential homes for Sky Vault:

Derbyshire - Erewash

It is envisaged that Sky Vault could bridge the M1 between J25 and J26, close to what will be known to many as the Old Stanton Ironworks site.

Leicestershire - The National Forest

The National Forest naturally lends itself to the Sky Vault concept. Currently no final site has been decided on. However, there is a zone on the A42 where Sky Vault could be erected.

Lincolnshire - Grantham

The proposed site is on the outskirts of Grantham, spanning the A1 by the Downtown Superstore.

Northamptonshire

Potential sites have centred around the M1. Northampton City and the surrounding area seems set for much development work. This proposed activity makes finding a home for Sky Vault in this area less likely.

Nottinghamshire - Newark

Two sites on the A1, on the outskirts of Newark, are currently being considered.
